Since 2016, NOLADEEJ has been captivated by these abandoned spaces, driven by a passion for history and a desire to uncover the untold stories behind their walls. Through his haunting photos, this book offers readers a rare opportunity to see inside places that few dare to explore, unveiling the beauty, mystery, and sadness of structures left behind by time and nature.

From the eerie remains of once-bustling hospitals and nursing homes to the haunting silence of a naval base and a theme park overtaken by nature, each location reveals a tale of life, abandonment, and decay. You’ll descend into the basement morgue of a hospital submerged for over sixteen years, and witness the haunting, overgrown remains of Six Flags New Orleans, a theme park closed for Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and never reopened.

With these images and stories, this book captures the delicate balance between human creation and nature's reclamation, inviting readers to step into the final chapter of these forgotten places before they vanish, taking their histories with them forever.

From the Author: Born and raised in the New Orleans area, I’ve always been drawn to history and storytelling. In 2016, I started a YouTube channel to highlight the city’s history, food, and attractions. As my passion for exploration grew, my friends and I began documenting abandoned places in and around New Orleans. This led to the creation of the Krewe du Exploration, a group dedicated to uncovering forgotten sites and their hidden stories. Our adventures have since expanded across many other locations. Photography has become a key part of my journey through the years, with my work ranging from portraits and landscapes to street photography and documenting abandoned spaces. Each photo is a chance to tell a story and capture a moment in time.
