Learn about the process of using acid dyes on protein fibers like wool, silk, and nylon, and how to apply dyes to create different color effects. Then, experiment with direct application dyeing to create a uniquely beautiful skein of yarn. Direct application dyeing provides the most control over mixing and applying colors, including speckles, variegation, and tonal variation.
We'll be dyeing 100 gram hanks of 100% wool, worsted weight yarn. One hank per person.
Dyes can be messy and may stain clothes. Gloves will be provided.

About the branch
Milton H. Latter Memorial Library is located on St. Charles Avenue. The 1907 neo-Italianate mansion was generously donated to the city by the Latter family to serve as a library in memory of their son. Today the branch offers programs for all ages as well as reading rooms, computers, printers, and wi-fi.
