Lisa Solomon received her BA in Practice of Art from UC Berkeley in 1995 and her MFA from Mills College in 2003. She has been a working artist and educator – as both a college professor and workshop facilitator – for 20+ years. Her mixed media works and large scale installations that revolve thematically around personal history, re-interpreting domesticity, the nefarious line between ART and CRAFT and color theory have been exhibited in galleries, art fairs, and museum exhibitions (inter)nationally. She is the illustrator of 20 Ways to Draw A Chair (Quarry Books 2015) and Draw 500 Everyday Things (Quarry Books 2016), and author of Knot Thread Stitch - Exploring Creativity Through Embroidery and Mixed Media (Quarry Books, 2012). A monograph of her work, Hand/Made, was published by MIEL books in 2013. The work she makes tinkering in her backyard studio can be found in both public and private collections. Lisa currently resides in Oakland, California with her husband, kiddo, a three-legged cat, a fluffy gray kitty, a pit-bull, a dachshund mutt and many, many spools of thread.
