Linda Janet Holmes is a writer, biographer, oral historian, curator, long-time women's health activist, and the author of Safe in a Midwife's Hands: Birthing Traditions from Africa to the American South. This book focuses on stories from decades of interviewing midwives of African descent in the American South, intertwined with the stories of traditional midwives in Kenya, Ethiopia, and Ghana.
This author talk is part of The Art of Birthing 2023, a holistic conference and experience hosted by Sista Midwife Productions. It centers maternal and infant health, birth options, empowered birth, perinatal disparities and solutions to move us toward health equity.
