A Workshop Inspired by Ocean Vuong's Poetic Vulnerability

Karisma Price leads this poetry workshop grounded in the work of Ocean Vuong. Read examples of Vuong's poetry and engage in generative exercises to develop your own poems.

This workshop is being held in anticipation of Ocean Vuong's free public lecture at Tulane University on November 19th at 6pm, part of the Tulane University School of Liberal Arts' Carole Barnette Boudreaux '65 Great Writers Series. Open to adult writers of all skill levels. 

Karisma Price is an Assistant Professor of English at Tulane University. A poet, screenwriter, and media artist, she is also the author of I'm Always So Serious (Sarabande Books, 2023). Karisma's work has appeared in publications including Poetry, Indiana Review, Four Way Review, wildness, and Adroit Journal. She is a Cave Canem Fellow, was a finalist for the 2019 Manchester Poetry Prize, and was awarded the 2020 J. Howard and Barbara M. J. Wood Prize from the Poetry Foundation. A native New Orleanian, she holds an MFA in poetry from New York University, where she was a Writers in the Public Schools Fellow.
