Coffee Culture New Orleans explores the rich history of coffee in the Crescent City, starting with the 18th-century rise of imports and French market coffee stands, through the establishment of institutional legends like Café du Monde and the cultural influences of Vietnamese and other coffee traditions, and ending with today's modern, "third wave" roasters focused on sustainability and ethical sourcing.
Marielle Songy is an author, freelance journalist, and native New Orleanian who enjoys writing about the food, people, and culture of her city. Her first book, The Absinthe Frappé, was published by LSU Press in 2023.
HEY Coffee Co. is a local espresso bar and roastery whose mission is presenting the utmost in community, hospitality, and quality while advocating for equity and environmental justice at all levels of the coffee industry through radical conservation and supporting sustainable, traceable, and ethical farming practices.

About the branch
Norman Mayer Library is named for New Orleans businessman and one of the original Tulane College of Commerce and Business guarantors, Norman Mayer. After his passing, his wife donated money to the New Orleans Public Library to have the Library opened. Doors opened in 1949, and the Library has been serving the Gentilly area since.
