Learn about the Polish folk art of wycinanki and create two wycinanki papercuttings of your own with artist Sam Wróbel.

Explore regional styles and techniques, and be guided in the creation of a single-sheet Kurpie-style cutting, and a colorful, layered Łowicz-style piece.

All supplies provided. This workshop is for adults and children 12 and up. 

Sponsored by the Passing It On grant from Louisiana Folklife. The Passing It On Program is funded with support from the Louisiana Folklore Society, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Louisiana Division of the Arts and the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism.

About the branch

In 2016, Mid-City Library relocated to The Automotive Life Insurance Company Building. Built in 1963, this mid-century modern gem was designed by Curtis & Davis Architects, who are also known for designing the Superdome and the Main Library on Loyola Ave. In 2010, the building was recognized as a historic landmark by the New Orleans Historic District Landmarks Commission.
