Learn the basics of starting your own fig from an existing tree, including the following:
- Selecting the proper branch
- How and where to cut
- Proper soil, rooting hormones, watering
- Where to keep your cutting while it gets established
- Transplanting into pots or the ground
- Care and maintenance
All participants are welcome, but materials are limited. Registration is recommended to reserve a fig tree cutting to take home.
Barcelo Gardens is a community garden and fresh produce market in Upper 9th Ward New Orleans, dedicated to helping people learn to grow and providing access to fresh produce.

Mid-City Library
In 2016, Mid-City Library relocated to The Automotive Life Insurance Company Building. Built in 1963, this mid-century modern gem was designed by Curtis & Davis Architects, who are also known for designing the Superdome and the Main Library on Loyola Ave. In 2010, the building was recognized as a historic landmark by the New Orleans Historic District Landmarks Commission.
