Meet the local teen creators of the Water Wonderful World reading / coloring book and Trinity City Comics. Pick up free books, learn about water in New Orleans, and make a “sno-ball in a bag."
Be among the first to receive a free copy of the recently published Water Wonderful World, a reading and coloring book which explores New Orleans’ unique relationship with water.
Activities will include making a “Sno-ball in a Bag", coloring a page from the book, and chatting with some of the New Orleans youth who created this book with the support of Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Youth Climate Action Fund and the City of New Orleans.
Also, get to know Trinity City Comics, an afrofuturistic comic book, created by teens and adults, telling the story of three teen heroes fighting for climate justice, community safety, and disability rights – set in New Orleans in the year 2078.
Both of these books are well-written, beautifully illustrated works of art educating us on our connection to water, AND both books were created by local youth artists, some of whom will be at the event to personally sign personalized copies addressed to you.
The afternoon will also include hands-on learning around the New Orleans water and stormwater systems from the Sewage and Water Board of New Orleans. SWBNO will introduce their Enviroscape® Watershed / Nonpoint Source Model and lead kids of all ages through a hands-on demonstration of how pollution can affect the bodies of water surrounding New Orleans.
This event is for kids 6 - 18 years of age and their families.
Please register to help us plan for supplies.
Sponsored by the Friends of the New Orleans Public Library and Trinity City Arts.
