Main Library, designed by architects Curtis and Davis, opened in 1958 as a part of the modern reimaging of Downtown New Orleans. It is currently the home to a large circulating collection, public services, Best Buy Teen Tech Center, the City Archives & Special Collections, as well as all administrative and technical services. Join us to learn more about the Main Library, the work we do here, and to get a peek behind the scenes.

The Main Library, located in the Central Business District, opened in December 1958. The building, encompassing three main floors and two sub-basements, is the Library's flagship location, providing the system's largest collection of popular and research sources.
The Main Library offers a wide collection of books, music, and movies, and hosts many programs for children, teens, and adults.
