Honor and celebrate the craftsmen who built the 7th Ward and who preserve our city's historic architecture with the New Orleans Master Crafts Guild.
This Plessy Day celebration begins with children's activities provided by the Louisiana Children's Museum, followed by food, music, and fellowship before screening the award-winning documentary, Ancestral Artistry: The Influence of Africans & Creoles of Color on Louisiana Architecture. The day ends with a panel discussion, moderated by Co-Founder of the Master Crafts Guild, Jonn E. Hankins, with panelists including Master Plasterer, Jeff Poree, Sr., Master Blacksmith, Darryl A. Reeves, and Blacksmith Apprentice, Karina Roca.
