Learn how to start your own fig from an existing tree, and how to properly care for your tree once it’s established. Register to reserve a fig tree cutting to take home with you.
Learn the basics of starting your own fig from an existing tree, including the following:
- Selecting the proper branch
- How and where to cut
- Proper soil, rooting hormones, watering
- Where to keep your cutting while it is getting established
- Transplanting into pots or the ground
- Care and maintenance
All participants are welcome, but materials are limited. Registration is recommended to reserve a fig tree cutting to take home.
Barcelo Gardens is a community garden and fresh produce market in Upper 9th Ward New Orleans, dedicated to helping people learn to grow and providing access to fresh produce.
