Celebrate the 15th annual Plessy Day where, in this election year, we will commemorate the 59th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act and honor our local civil rights veterans.
Honor our local civil rights veterans who fought for voting rights, equal access, and full civic engagement for all.
The schedule is as follows:
10:00-11:00: Children's art workshop facilitated by The Black School
11:00-12:00: Enjoy food provided by Vaucresson Creole; Cafe and music by Carl Leblanc
12:00-12:30: Visit with representatives from VOTE, Freedom House, and the New Orleans Public Library
12:30-1:30: Learn from civil rights icons Ronnie Moore and Dorotha "Dodie" Smith-Simmons, moderated by Candice "Devine" Henderson-Chandler, Founder & Executive Director, The Freedom House
