Meet the artist behind this year's PhotoNOLA exhibit. Romi Voorhies discusses her series entitled "West End Ruins." Refreshments will be served.
West End Ruins is a solo landscape series devoted to the vestiges along Lake Pontchartrain’s southern shore at West End in New Orleans. It was once a beloved and nostalgic restaurant and social hub for local families, friends, and couples. Katrina managed to devastate most all that stood there except for these emotionally stirring remnants.
Romi Voorhies is a Louisiana-based photographer and occupational therapist with a love for landscape and abstract photography. This series is made up of both black and white and color prints of the ruins at West End.
